2021 Summer Assignments

American mathematician, William Paul Thurston says “ Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about understanding.”  To deepen your understanding, all students are required to complete summer math work in Aleks, which is adaptive software that works each student to individualized topic understanding.  The information covered in Aleks primarily reviews last year’s key math concepts and, in some classes, contains a small introduction to what students will learn in their upcoming math class.

Your summer work is due by August 15, 2021. The summer assignment will be worth two homework grades, and every teacher will be testing all students on the summer work material. Teachers will not accept late work.

For details about your assignment, see the links below.

If you have any questions regarding summer work in ALEKS, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Wooster at If you have any questions regarding math placement, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. McHugh at

The assignments linked for each grade level below will allow your English teacher a bit of insight into your talents as a reader and writer. This assignment will be due during the first week of school, and your teacher will give you the specifics on the first day of class.

Please do your best on this assignment. We are eager to see your capabilities as we start the year together.
