Lisgar ’19 Wins Distinguished Military Graduate Award

Posted October 14th, 2022

We are proud to share that Hermits Alumnus, Blake S. Lisgar ’19 was announced as a 2022 Distinguished Military Graduate Award Winner. This distinction is awarded to the top 20% of all ROTC cadets across the nation who exemplify the highest standards in academics at his/her university as well as the highest standards in military science, Army standards and achievement.

The proud son of Scott and Valerie Lisgar P’19 ’22, Blake ’19 attributes much of his values and determination on the lessons of empathy and leadership learned at the Prep.

Blake’s development during his time at St. Augustine has translated into a decorated academic and ROTC career at the University of Delaware.  This summer he was awarded the honor of serving as “Alpha Company Commander” for graduation ceremonies from Cadet Summer Training as well as earning the coveted “Recondo” badge which is awarded to the top 2% of all cadets who participate in the mandatory summer training regiment. Following his graduation from Cadet Summer Training, Blake was assigned to the “Blackfoot Company” with the “Arctic Warriors” in Anchorage, Alaska where he completed Cadet Leadership Training over the course of five weeks. In addition, Blake successfully completed and graduated from “Air Assault” school at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.

Currently a senior at the University of Delaware and Alpha Company Commander of the Blue Hen Battalion, Blake is on a full four-year scholarship awarded by the United States Army and has achieved Dean’s List honors for the previous five semesters.  The former Hermits Rowing scholar-athlete does find time away from his ROTC and academic responsibilities by competing on the University of Delaware Triathlon team.  He has also found success in this arena as the team qualified for the 2022 Collegiate National Championship in Georgia.

There is no rest for the weary as Blake is currently completing an internship with the President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Upon being commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army this Spring, he aspires to branch as an Aviator with hopes of either attending Law School or a Master’s level graduate program.

Blake will be returning to St. Augustine on October 24 as part of the school’s Veritas Speaker Series.  He will be addressing his Hermit Brothers on life after Richland and sharing how the lessons of Brotherhood continue to guide him in his everyday life.

Blake Lisgar ’19 is scheduled as the next guest for the Veritas Speaker Series. He will be presenting to his Hermit Brothers on Monday, October 24 in the Buondonno Forum.

Blake’s achievements, diligence, and perseverance in his post-Richland journey are a strong example of life as a Hermit Brother entering a new chapter as an alumnus. The school is blessed to have many alumni who continue to represent the Prep with the same pride and vigor they held as students. Blake is part of a list of distinguished Hermits Alumni who have earned distinctions in military service, education, athletics, medicine, business, and a variety of industries. Do you know a young man who is ready to become a “Man of Character” and follow in Blake’s footsteps by attending the premier all-boys high school in New Jersey?
