Reporting Relationship: Director of Technology / Dean of Academics

Purpose: Cultivates a mission-appropriate culture where Augustinian pedagogy, learning, and healthy wellness thrive. Focuses primarily on teaching, assessment, nurturing the school’s mission, managing academic systems such as grade reporting, scheduling, academic performance, and student/faculty/parent/guardian relationships. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware
  • Respond to queries in person and over the phone
  • Write training manuals
  • Train computer users
  • Maintain daily performance of computer systems
  • Respond to requests from employees and students seeking help
  • Have good communication skills and be able to ask employees, students, and parents questions to help identify their problems and needs
  • Walk employees and students through problem-solving processes
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software
  • Clean up and reimage computers
  • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems
  • Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems
  • Install computer peripherals for users
  • Follow up with employees and students to ensure the issue has been resolved
  • Gain feedback from end users about computer usage
  • Mentor students who are IT enthusiasts through the Student IT Mentoring Club
  • Assist the Director of Information Technology, and the SIS Data Director / Junior System Administrator with related tasks
  • Educational Philosophy and Pedagogy that facilitates active learning
  • Incorporate a variety of methodologies to teach, assess, and promote effective computer science skills, critical thinking/analysis, and essential skills to maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
  • Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, understands the adolescent learner, and is flexible and energetic
  • Demonstrates the ability to confer with parents and students in a cooperative effort to understand the student and to encourage progress
  • Displays the highest level of ethical and professional behavior and standards
  • Understands the mission of the school and is willing and able to promote the Augustinian values of VERITAS (Truth), UNITAS (Unity), and CARITAS (Love)
  • Teach two or three sections of classes

Required/Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, master’s degree preferred
  • NJ Teacher Certification and/or prior secondary school teaching experience are desirable.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies (i.e., Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure / M365, Amazon AWS)
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ certifications
  • Technical knowledge of systems administration and integration
  • Expert understanding of Windows Server Family, and Windows 10/11 workstations 
  • Skilled in programming Python, Java, and/or JavaScript
  • Competency in Web Design using HTML and Cascading Style Sheets
  • Expertise in Linux administration and scripts and using raspberry pi
  • Competency in basic computer hardware and network configurations using TCP/IP
