Freshman Experience
Christian Kuhn: Public Speaking
In my entire scholastic career, I have never had difficulties with achieving straight A’s. In each of my previous classes, I did not have to study or work hard to earn high grades. This is part of the reason St. Augustine Prep shocked me. When I entered, I was naive enough to believe maintaining high grades was going to be a cakewalk, just like middle school. I was wrong, and my current grades show it. I know that I will be able to work hard to bring my grades up to my expectations, although for one class in particular, this will be difficult. This class is Public Speaking.
All of my life I have been an extremely shy person around people with whom I am unfamiliar. If you know me, I am anything but shy and quiet; however, when I have to give a speech in this class, I get nervous and speak very quickly and very quietly. This affects my grade, and I get low scores. Although I earned low grades in the beginning, hopefully, the class will help me become less nervous speaking to an audience, and I can achieve the high grades I desire.
