Christian Kuhn: Reasons Why I Chose the Prep

Posted November 1st, 2015

Choosing which high school I wanted to go to has been the biggest decision so far in my young life. Thankfully, it was an uncomplicated choice to make, because when I was in sixth grade I knew I was heading to the Prep. I made this decision early on for two main reasons: my older brother’s experience and the outstanding athletic programs. My brother was a very shy and awkward person before he went to school at the Prep. He nervously traveled to the Prep on his first day, not knowing any of the other boys. He had fleeting thoughts of transferring to a different school where his old friends were going, but after he came home from his first day of school, it was set in stone; he was committed to attending the Prep. Now, six years later, my brother has flourished into an outgoing, well-spoken, and empathetic junior at Johns Hopkins University. Witnessing what a fine gentleman my shy brother evolved into, I know that St. Augustine is a spectacular school, and I look forward to achieving similar results.

Another reason I chose to go to St. Augustine Prep, was because of the amazing athletic programs they have. I love lacrosse and play for multiple travel teams, including Mr. Valore’s summer travel program, SouthShore. Playing lacrosse in high school was an absolute must for me. Luckily, the Prep’s lacrosse program is one of the top in the nation and has notable lacrosse alumni.

I chose St. Augustine because of the top-notch athletics and their ability to transform boys into gentlemen. My decision was made by the promise of the best path to fulfill my potential, both academically and athletically.
