Hermits Choral Program Receives Statewide Recognition
Trio of Hermits Enjoy All-State Chorus Status
While many high school students were going about their normal after-school activities, 348 choral students from across New Jersey headed to Atlantic City to begin a unique performance experience that only a select group of young performing artists can experience. This group was selected from a pool of over 1,200 students, all of which auditioning from every music program across the state, all with hopes of joining the prestigious New Jersey All-State Chorus.
St. Augustine Prep is proud to have three students earn this lofty achievement:
Nick Mahon ’19
Brandon Nailor ’18
Nick Pilny ’18
Preparation began as far back as their first rehearsal in June, with continuing rehearsals over the next several months that followed. As they arrived in Atlantic City, the vocalists began a series of rehearsals over the next three days in historic Boardwalk Hall. The preparation would culminate in a performance at the Atlantic City Convention Center, with another performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark. Our scholar-vocalists were not the only representatives from Richland as St. Augustine Prep’s own Choral Director, Mr. Matthew Wolf, was selected as one of two Managers for the All-State Chorus. Mr. Wolf’s responsibilities included, but were not limited to, guiding the students through the last six months of rehearsals leading up to their performance in Atlantic City and Newark.

With such high-level talent spread across South Jersey, eight of the eleven talented vocalists were accepted into the ensemble that will rehearse over the next two months.
