2015 Senior Awards Ceremony Breakfast

On Wednesday, May 13th, as a component of the school’s Commencement Exercises,  the Class of 2015 came together for the annual Senior Awards Ceremony Breakfast. Attendees welcomed a ?Golden Hermit? from the Class of ’65, Mr. Bernard Monks, as he delivered a compelling address that spoke to the cherished friendships forged at the Prep. Awards were presented to students for their excellence and leadership in co-curricular activities and service programs. There were also generous benefactors of the Prep in attendance who presented students monetary awards and special gifts for their achievements.

Benefactor-Sponsored Awards:

  •  Robert Lancaster-$550 Mary Ann Coyle Scholarship Award
    • The Mary Ann Coyle Award Memorial Scholarship embodies the spirit of this strong woman of faith who lived her life through community service, leadership, and most importantly the care and concern for others.  Through her fight and many victories over breast cancer, she constantly sought to help ease the burdens of others struck with this disease.  It is in this spirit that the scholarship is given to a member of the National Honor Society who personifies these important traits.
  • Michael Rozanski-$1,000 Rose Davis Scholarship Award
    • This scholarship, sponsored by Mrs. Rose Davis, Member of the Prep Board of Directors, is awarded in the name of her parents, Josephine and Louis Buondonno.  It is awarded to a student because of his commitment to brotherhood and service.
  •  Benjamin Clark-$1,000 Vincent P. Martino Jr. Award
    • The Vincent P. Martino, Jr. Award is presented to a graduate who has excelled in the study of Spanish for all four years, has shown an appreciation of the Culture of Spain and Latin America, and will continue to study Spanish.
  • Dwayne Bryant and Branden Wright-$1,000 (each) Brittany Rodio Foundation Scholarship Award
    • The Brittany Rodio Foundation was formally created to honor the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Rodio whose life was tragically cut short as a result of an automobile accident.  Brittany displayed a contagious joy and love for life and people.  The intent of the foundation is to keep Brittany’s energetic spirit alive.  The Brittany Rodio Foundation Scholarship Award is awarded to two students who have excelled in Cross County and Track and Field. 
  • Maurice Finerty-$2,000 Bruce Russell Jr. Award
    • For the past 11 years, the Russell Family has generously offered a graduating senior ice hockey player a gift in honor of their late son, Bruce Russell Jr., who passed away in 2003.  Bruce was the co-founder of Hermits Ice Hockey and worked with Coach Conicello in establishing the program in 1999.  Coach Russell had a profound passion for this sport and his leadership was driven through his love for hockey. Only ice hockey players are eligible to apply for this scholarship.  The applicants must write an essay explaining “The influence Hockey has had in my life.”
