7 from Prep Attend Augustinian Values Institute
Posted November 13th, 2012
The tenth annual Augustinian Values Institute (AVI) was held at Villanova Preparatory School in Ojai, California, October 26-28. The AVI is a gathering of representatives from Augustinian schools in North America to learn more about St. Augustine and to discuss the core values of Truth, Unity, and Love. Through formal presentations and group discussions, Augustinian educators share ideas on how the values become incarnate in their schools. In recent years, participants from Augustinian schools in England, Ireland, and Australia have joined in the institute, which is held each year at a different Augustinian school in the United States or Canada.
This year, Mr. Mark Blystone, Mr. Robert Boyle, Mr. Kevin Burke, Mr. Frank Garufi, Jr., Fr. Patrick McStravog, Mr. Michael Rizzo, and Ms. Norma Vogelsong represented St. Augustine Prep at the AVI. Mr. Garufi also attended a pre-institute workshop on technology, and Mr. Burke and Fr. Patrick attended the Heads of School meeting of the Augustinian Secondary Education Association.
The Prep delegates enjoyed an unexpected three-day vacation in sunny Ventura, California, when their return flight to Philadelphia was delayed because of Hurricane Sandy.
