A Message from College Guidance
Greetings from the College Guidance & Counseling Department! We hope all have enjoyed their summer and await your return to campus in a few short weeks. As you may know, there have been several changes and additions to this Department and we want to share with you what is happening now. When you return, you will notice that many offices have been relocated. Let’s start with the staff changes:
Mr. Donald Casolaro – Associate Dean of College Guidance and Counseling
Mrs. Brooke Coyle – Director of College Guidance
Mr. Christian Siciliano – Director of the Unitas Program
Mr. Mark Reardon – Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Janice Deery – Guidance Counselor
Mr. Thomas Coyle – Guidance Counselor
Br. Robert Thornton, OSA – School Psychologist
Mr. Dennis Stahl – School Counselor
Mrs. Carol Castelli – Registrar and Assistant College Counselor
Mrs. Colleen Salvati – Assistant College Counselor
Mrs. Kathleen Murray – Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Kathleen Shelton – Administrative Assistant
Family Connection/Naviance Program – We have initiated the use of the Family Connection/Naviance Program in College Guidance. It is a college and career readiness software provider that partners with high schools to provide students with college planning and career assessment tools. Family Connection will serve as our central college guidance communication site. We look forward to introducing this successful program to the Prep community. It will be an invaluable resource for the entire college search process.
Unitas Program – Unitas strives to connect each young man in the freshman and sophomore years in a unique way with a faculty adviser who will help him adjust to the rigors of the Prep’s educational environment. The advisers will monitor each advisee’s involvement in co-curricular activities to make sure he is taking full advantage of all that St. Augustine has to offer its students. Advisers will also assist students in the maintenance of a personal portfolio to keep a record of community service, activity membership, special awards, individual achievements, etc., accumulated during their high school career. The dedication and devotion of our faculty and staff, along with the cooperation of our young Hermit brothers will make the Unitas Program an exceptional and integral feature of life at the Prep.
Summer College Tours – Congrats to Mrs. Coyle and the College Guidance Department for embarking on five different regional college tours over the summer. Students became acquainted with schools in the Lehigh Valley, Maryland/D.C./Delaware, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Philadelphia. This was a great opportunity for our students to sample a taste of some of the finer institutions on the East coast. The campus tours and seminars were very informative and culminated in being another learning step in the college search process.
