A Message from the President on Graduation

Dear Parent/Guardian,
With Commencement Exercises quickly approaching, I thought it would be good that I share with you an overview of the celebratory activities for the Class of 2013, as well as your son’s obligations with respect to the completion of his days at the Prep. All of this information as well as occasional updates will be posted on Prep Talk and on the Prep web site (www.hermits.com) under the header Class of 2013 Commencement Exercises.
Dates and Times:
- Senior Breakfast, Award Ceremony and Graduation Rehearsal: Friday, May 10, 2013 on campus 8:45 AM. Seniors will be my guests for bowling at Di Donato Bowling in Hammonton following Graduation Rehearsal. Transportation will be provided. Award Ceremony is for students only.
- Deans’ Dinner: Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Consalo Dining Hall at 6:30 PM.
- Senior Parent/Faculty Reception: Friday, May 17, 2013 on campus at the Augustinian Residence 6:30 PM. Formal invitations will be sent to you from the Office of Institutional Advancement.
- Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises: Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Fr. LaRosa O.S.A. Stadium 11:00 AM.
In order for your son to receive a diploma, he MUST:
- Successfully complete all academic and service requirements.
- Make up any absence days in excess of 13 days. (Contact Mr. Iaconelli.)
- Have no remaining financial responsibilities as determined by the Business Office.
- Attend our Senior Breakfast, Award Ceremony and Graduation Rehearsal on Friday, May 10. Students only.
Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises:
- Due to limited on-campus parking, families are encouraged to carpool.
- The gates to Fr. La Rosa Stadium will open no earlier than 10 AM.
- All attendees must have a ticket to enter.
- Each family will receive eight (8) tickets. Tickets will be color coded.
- Five tickets (5) will be designated for parents/guardians/grandparents.
- Three tickets (3) will be designated for general seating in the stands.
- Parents/guardians/grandparents will be seated on the field.
- In the event of inclement weather, the Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises will take place in Rodio Gymnasium. An announcement, if needed, will be made on the Honeywell System on Sunday morning, May 19 and information will be posted on the Prep’s web site.
- Seating will be limited to five (5) seats if moved to Rodio Gymnasium. Three guests will be able to view the event on TV monitors in the Consalo Dining Hall.
The morning of graduation seniors must:
- Wear a white shirt, tie, socks, dress shoes and dress pants under their graduation gown.
- Report to the Forum no later than 9:45 AM.
Final Notes:
- Commencement Exercises will be finished by approximately 1:15 PM.
- Graduates will receive their diplomas after the ceremony.
- A reception for graduates, families and their guests sponsored by the Austin Society will follow Commencement Exercises. Light fare will be served.
Members of the Class of 2013 are welcome to invite family members who are Roman Catholic priests and deacons to participate in the Baccalaureate Mass. Please contact Fr. Patrick McStravog, O.S.A., Assistant to the President for Mission & Ministry at (Fr.McStravog@hermits.com) for details.
DVD’s of the Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises will be available in late May. Mr. George Smith, Director of Communications, will post information on Prep Talk the first week of May regarding orders.

Our Commencement Exercises this year at the Prep are very special as the Class of 2013 will celebrate with the Class of 1963 – the Prep’s first graduating class on the occasion of their 50th anniversary.
