Academic Concentrations

Posted December 17th, 2015

The Class of 2017 was the first class to begin utilizing an innovative approach to education; our Academic Concentrations program.  There are many purposes to this program, some of which include creating a more attractive academic portfolio for our students when presenting themselves to colleges by allowing them to take additional classes in Fine Arts, Computer Coding, Public Speaking and Lifetime Fitness as well as create additional opportunities and offerings within our curriculum.  The acquisition of the skills taught in these classes at a young age (freshmen and sophomores) helps them grown over time (Public Speaking and Computer Coding).  Lifetime Fitness Skills teaches healthy living, but more importantly provides a possible outlet for stress relief.  Fine Arts provides another possible stress reliever and also exposes every student to an area of study in the Arts (Renaissance Men).

Based on research with colleges and universities “areas of focus” on transcripts are very attractive for college admissions.  The program helps students know what areas of study they like or don’t like and also helps to facilitate greater administrative efficiency in class scheduling.  We will know in advance what courses match our students’ interest each year and can plan course offerings to match that interest.
