AP British Literature and Honors Classes Visit New York City Through the Generosity of Two Hermit Brothers

Posted March 17th, 2016

On Wednesday March 9th, Mrs. Asselta’s AP British Literature and Honors classes along with Mrs. McHugh and Miss Krogman, traveled to New York City to attend the musical Something Rotten! Prior to the matinee production, the students enjoyed time experiencing the many diverse offerings in the city including: St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park, and the Museum of Modern Art.

The cost of the trip, tickets, and transportation was part of a gift made by two members from the Class of ’64, former Sen. William Gormley Esq. and Mr. Eli Mattioli Esq. Mr. Gormley was able to meet the students at the theater and say hello to his Hermit Brothers in attendance.

Something Rotten! is a lively musical which includes spoofs on many of Shakespeare’s works and other popular plays in theater history. The students and chaperones thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the entire day. Mrs. Asselta commented, “Truly an amazing cultural experience for the students! These types of educational opportunities are invaluable; the Prep is so fortunate to have alumni who understand the importance of experiential learning. Mr. Gormley and Mr. Mattioli are yet another example that the legacy of the Prep is clearly alive!”
