Back to School – Important Information and Last Minute Reminders

In one week, the rooms of Augustinian Hall, Scarpa Building, and the Forum will be full of Hermits again. We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. We are very excited for the start of Academic Year 2013-14. Below are the summer reading test schedule, bus information, last minute reminders, and the schedule for the opening days of school. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Summer Reading Test Schedule:
- Freshmen – On Thursday (9/5) or Friday (9/6) in English class
- Sophomores and Juniors – On Wednesday (9/4) after Brotherhood Ceremony in F period class (please know your F period teacher and classroom)
Bus Information:
- All buses will be running the first day of school. Please note: Vineland buses will definitely be running regardless of the date on the bus pass.
- Buses will leave St. Augustine at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3.
- Beginning Wednesday, September 4, buses will leave on the regular schedule which is as follows:
- Monday – STA Buses 7 through 13, Egg Harbor Township and Vineland buses will leave at 2:40 p.m. First Student Buses 1 thru 6 will leave at 2:55 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday all buses leave the Prep at 3:05 p.m.
- Friday all buses leave the Prep at 2:40 p.m.
Here are some last minute reminders:
- Know your F period teacher and classroom for the first day
- Finish summer reading books and prepare to be tested on them
- Make sure you are following the dress code (see Student Handbook here)
- Proper shoes, proper shirt, blazer with a patch, BELT, etc.
- Make sure you have an appropriate haircut
- Make sure you are clean shaven
- Review the new lunch deposit program here
The schedule for the openings days will be:
Tuesday, September 3 – freshmen and seniors report
- Freshmen in full uniform (shirt, tie, and blazer)
- Seniors may wear the spring uniform (Prep polo shirt)
- 7:45 – 8:40 – Check-in (Dining Hall)
- 8:40 – 9:00 – Introduction
- Welcome/Prayer – Fr. Reilly
- 9:00 – 9:30 – Senior Assembly Rodio Gym – Frosh Assembly Dining Hall
- 9:30 – 10:30 – Assign Bigs and Tour Campus/Pictures for freshmen in Spina
- 10:30 – 10:45 – Tour Quiz Bowl
- 10:45 – 11:30 – Lunch
- 11:30 – 12:30 – Seniors Dismissed – Frosh Practice for Brotherhood Ceremony
- 14 Faculty Members will be assigned to bus duty with bus rosters for first day
Wednesday, September 4 – All students report – freshmen to the Forum: all others to Spina Gym
- All students in full uniform (shirt, tie, and blazer)
- 8:30 – 9:30 Brotherhood Ceremony (Rodio Gym)
- 9:30 – 11:00
- Reception for Freshmen, Seniors, and families – Dining Hall (ends at 10:30)
- Sophomore and Junior Summer reading testing – F period classrooms
- 11:00 – 11:35 Seniors and Freshmen F period classes – Juniors and Sophomores Lunch
- 11:35 – 12:10 Juniors and Sophomores F period classes – Seniors and Freshmen Lunch
- 12:10 – 2:30 Class Schedule (14 minute classes) Period A through Period H
