Celebrating the Arts at the Prep
Posted December 11th, 2012
The Holiday Season at St. Augustine Prep is filled with a celebration of the arts. The school play, Damn Yankees, had a successful run last week from December 6 through December 8. Yesterday, the Men’s Choir held a Christmas recital in which the choir performed a Cantata of Christmas classics. The event was followed by a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with cookies and hot chocolate, which was organized by the mothers of the Austin Society. This Wednesday, December 12, we have yet another opportunity to celebrate the arts with the Community Concert Series Guitar Ensemble, which will be held in the Study Commons (Scarpa Building) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
On behalf of the entire Prep community, I would like to offer my sincerest thanks to a few special people for their contributions to the holiday season: Thanks to Mr. Fred Cristelli, who generously donated the 20-foot St. Augustine Prep campus Christmas tree, the blessing and lighting of which has become a holiday tradition that we hope will continue to grow over time. Thanks to Mrs. Lisa Schill and Mrs. Lori Arena, co-presidents of the Austin Society, and all of the mothers who generously assisted with the reception following the Christmas Concert and Tree Lighting Ceremony.
What we have created here at the Prep has been the work of many hearts and hands, and the Christmas Season offers us an opportunity to celebrate the gifts and talents of our students, faculty, staff, parents, and families. May God continue to bless you this Holiday Season.
Sincerely,
Fr. Donald Reilly, O.S.A., D.Min
