Christmas in Italy

Posted January 10th, 2014

On Christmas Day, 44 members of the Prep community, including faculty, students, and families, boarded a flight from Philadelphia to Rome. The Third Semester Trip to Rome and Sorrento was a great success and everyone had a wonderful time. The group not only visited the normal tourist sites in Rome, but also had the extraordinary experience of a tour inside the original area of the Forum conducted by Br. Mark, O.F.M. at the Basilica of Sts. Cosmas and Damien. There was a special Mass celebrated in the Augustinian Motherhouse by Fr. Bob Guesetto, O.S.A. The group was also able to participate in the special Scavi Tour and see the burial ossuary of St. Peter under the great altar of the Vatican Basilica of St. Peter. In Sorrento, on New Year’s Eve, they feasted at a traditional Capodonna Dinner and enjoyed the beauty of driving along the Amalfi Coast. The weather was quite cooperative and the entire group was disheartened when the trip concluded on January 3 and they had to fly back to the snowy and stormy conditions in Philadelphia.
