Closing Liturgies

Posted May 13th, 2023

As we come to the end of another school year, we end the semester in a way we celebrated throughout the year, with the closing Liturgies. On May 10 we celebrated the last Mass with our Senior Hermits. The month of May is dedicated to Mary, the Virgin Mother of Jesus. At the end of the last Senior Mass, the class processed with the Augustinian Friars to the statue of Mary on the lawn of the school.

After a prayer service the oldest Senior, Kevin Quinn, placed a crown on the head of Mary as a Marian hymn was played. Their last liturgical act at the Prep was to acknowledge the mother of Jesus.

On Tuesday, May 16, we will celebrate the final Mass of the year with the “Moving Up Ceremony”. This is when each class moves from their assigned seat in the gym for Mass to the seats of the class ahead of them to signify they are moving from one year to another.
