Coach Rodio One Win from South Jersey Record

Posted February 8th, 2013

On Thursday, February 7, the Hermits basketball team defeated the Millville Thunderbolts 80-57 for the team’s seventeenth win of the season. It is an impressive win total, until you consider the fact that for Head Coach Paul Rodio, the victory was just the 775th of his career. The win puts him in a tie for the South Jersey record for career wins as a head coach.

On Saturday, February 9, the Hermits basketball team will host Camden High School at 7:30 p.m. in the Rodio Gymnasium as part of the Olympic Cape Challenge Tournament. St. Augustine Prep has hosted this tournament for years, and all of the proceeds from the Tournament games benefit the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The final game of the day is the showdown between St. Augustine Prep and Camden High. A Hermits victory in that game would make the gym’s namesake the winningest high school basketball coach in South Jersey history.

In light of this opportunity for Coach Rodio, the Athletics Department anticipates a significant turnout for the game. Please arrive early, as the gym will likely fill to capacity before the 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
