Dean of Academics Office Announces New SAT Program

Posted August 21st, 2012

A student’s SAT score is a big part of the college acceptance process. Prolonged exposure to SAT questions is the best preparation for the test. We want to prepare our students for the SAT test as best as we can; the Prep will be introducing a curriculum advancement program to the math and English classes this year. St. Augustine Prep will be working with New England Prep (http://www.nepsat.com ), a company that specializes in preparing students for the SAT, PSAT, and ACT. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (not seniors) will be working for 20 minutes a week on SAT questions, in their math and English classes, via video instruction from a renowned SAT expert, Ray Dass. The expert instruction is accompanied by a workbook so the students can test their skills and prepare for the test. The cost of the math workbook is $40 and English workbook is $40. This book is not sold through Follet since the books will be shipped directly to St. Augustine Prep. The math and English teachers will collect the payment and distribute the books. We will explain the program to our students and plan workbook distribution for the second week of school. We are very excited about the success that our students will have from working with this curriculum advancement program. The SAT is an important test. We want to make sure that are students are ready to do well.
