Dodgeball Team Plays Benefit at Rutgers Camden
Posted April 13th, 2015
Our in-house tournament dodgeball champions traveled to Rutgers Camden on Friday, March 27th to compete in Phase II of the Environmental Club’s Dodgeball Tournament – the Canuso Foundation’s Babes in Dodgeball Tournament of Champions. To determine participating teams, schools hold an in-house Dodgeball tournament with the champions advancing to the Canuso Tournament of Champions. Proceeds from the event are used to support children or teens fighting cancer. Close to 200 students participate – all eager to display their skills at the 5 Ds of Dodgeball: Dodge, Dive, Dip, Duck, and Dodge!
The Prep players advanced steadily early in the competition winning the first three games, with heroic efforts in game two by Max Lamcken and Ryan Brown to keep us alive! The Prep team placed third overall in the competition.
Money raised by the Prep will benefit a young boy from Clearview who is courageously battling a brain tumor. We will also offer a Dress Down Day on Wednesday, April 22nd (Earth Day) to continue to raise funds for the boy.
The Canuso Foundation President commented, “Your students were by far the best behaved, most polite, and displayed true sportsmanship…” and wished that every school acted the way our boys do.
So clearly, we are Champions! Hermit Pride!
Attendees at the tournament included Dan Alvarez, Steve Alvarez, Ryan Brown, Lamont Harris, Justyn Mutts, George Steffa, Max Lamcken, Erik Vandenberg, and Mike Geyshens (assistant coach).
