Environmental Club: Arts in Earth Day Competition Winners
Posted May 3rd, 2016
To prepare for and raise awareness of Earth Day on April 22, the Environmental Club sponsored the Fifth Annual “Arts in Earth Day” competition – a co-curricular event. The students’ response to the competition, which ran from March 18th through April 15th, was exciting, with over 200 entries spanning the three categories: poetry, photography, and original artwork.
In the poetry category, first prize was awarded to junior Giovanni Albano (read his poem here), and the second prize went to sophomore Anthony Neri (see entry here). In the photography category, sophomore Angelo Gurcsik was awarded the first place prize, and sophomore Omar Borai ranked second. In the original artwork category, first prize was awarded to junior Blake Goswick and second prize went to junior Brent Jarman (photos and artwork in video below.) Keep your eyes posted for publication of many of the submitted masterpieces in The Prep Literary Arts Magazine!
Special thanks to the judges in each category: Mrs. Deborah Asselta (poetry), Mrs. Lorraine Dutta (art), and Mrs. Nancy McHugh (photography).
