Family Greets Prep Alumnus Upon Return from Afghanistan

Frank Broomell (Class of 2005) is an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. On Thursday, February 16, First Lieutenant Broomell returned from a seven-month tour of Afghanistan, during which he was stationed at Camp Leatherneck in the Helmand Province. When his plane touched down in San Diego, CA his family, which includes brother Jack Broomell (Class of 2012) and mother Mrs. Anna Broomell (Administrative Assistant – Athletic Department), were there to greet him on the tarmac (see photo).

Upon graduating from the Prep in 2005, Broomell received a Presidential Scholarship to George Washington University in Washington, DC. In the summer between his junior and senior years at GW he attended the Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. After graduating from GW, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps on July 3, 2009.
