Flynn Brothers Named Co-Swimmers of the Year

Posted March 20th, 2012

Brothers Jeff (Class of 2012) and Pat (Class of 2013) Flynn have been named the 2012 Atlantic City Press Boys Swimmers of the Year. Jeff and Pat were the leaders of a team that went undefeated in the Cape Atlantic League for the ninth consecutive season. Older brother Jeff  is widely regarded as the area’s top sprint freestyler. At last year’s Meet of Champions, the New Jersey state individual swimming championships, Jeff took the top spot in the 50-meter freestyle event as a junior. This year he won the 50 and the 100-meter freestyle events in both the South Jersey Coaches’ Invitational and the Cape-Atlantic League Individual Championships. At the latter event, Jeff set the meet record of 53.04 in the 100.

Younger brother Pat is a distance specialist who won both the 200 freestyle and the 200 individual medley at the Cape-Atlantic League Individual Championships. He was also the anchor of the first-place-finishing 200 freestyle relay team at the event.

The Flynn brothers are thrilled to be sharing this distinction.

“I couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather share it with,” Jeff told the Atlantic City Press. “I think it’s great that we both get the same honor of having the title.”
