Fr. Reilly Attends Academic Workshop at Harvard

Posted July 30th, 2013

St. Augustine Prep President, Fr. Donald Reilly, will be at Harvard University the week of July 29 for a program on Multiple Intelligences offered by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The “father” of the concept of multiples intelligences, Dr. Howard Gardner, will be facilitating the program.

Fundamentally, Gardner contends that people have a unique blend of intelligences: Linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The theory validates educators’ everyday experience: students think and learn in many different ways. The concept of Multiple Intelligences also provides educators with a conceptual framework for organizing and reflecting on curriculum assessment and pedagogical practices. In turn, this reflection has led many educators to develop new approaches that might better meet the needs of the range of learners in their classrooms.

We look forward to hearing from Fr. Reilly about how the ongoing application of this theory will effect learning for St. Augustine Prep’s faculty and students.
