Accompanied by Fr. Tony Burrascano, O.S.A., Dr. Zagarella, and Mr. Sharp, an eager group of Hermits spent time at Malvern Prep to participate in this year’s installment of SAVI (Student Augustinian Values Institute). SAVI is funded by the Order of St. Augustine, North American Provinces of the United States and Canada, and represents ten high schools staffed and founded by the Order. This program was born of the Augustinian Values Institute created for the benefit of teachers, staff, and administrators.

The SAVI program is designed to help students gain a deeper understanding of the Augustinian Values they have been learning at their respective schools. During the 3-day experience, students conduct in-depth discussions with their peers from fellow Augustinian schools and learn how each institution shares these values within their communities. The Prep is proud of the bond of the Hermit Brotherhood but in this case, the SAVI team learned they are also part of an even bigger Augustinian family. Through SAVI, students from all ten Augustinian Schools within the Augustinian Secondary Education Association in North America are able to bond with other Augustinian students from across the continent. Most significantly, this experience introduces a renewed sense of their Augustinian identity.

Participants were proud to deepen their understanding of the core values of Truth, Unity, and Love through their SAVI experience rooted in faith, friendship, and service. These students vowed to find creative ways to continue living and promoting these values with their peers and the entire Prep Community.
