Hermits Lamont Harris breaks Prep and CAL records with 339 Rushing Yards
Posted November 4th, 2014
Congratulations to Hermits Football’s Lamont Harris, Class of 2015, who broke school and Cape-Atlantic League records with 339 rushing yards. He also scored three touchdowns to power the Hermits to a 41-0 shut out victory against Vineland High School in a CAL American Conference clash at Father Stephen LaRosa Field at St. Augustine Prep.
Harris, who was more focused on helping the Hermits get their first shutout since 2009, talked about his mentor and prior classmate Calvin Cass ’13, after getting the record.
“When he was here, he had 300 (yards), he broke the record here his junior year, so every time I’m running the ball and see my yardage I just think about him because he was like a big brother to me,” Harris said. “He taught me a lot while I was here, and he’s probably the reason why I play as hard as I do.”
