Interact Club Participates in Special Needs Holiday Party

Posted December 9th, 2014

Every year the Vineland Rotary Club hosts a Holiday Party for the Vineland public school district special needs children.  Four groups of special needs children attend the event; those with cognitive, behavioral, physical, and autistic challenges. This year on December 3, 160 third graders were treated to a festive party.  Prep Interact Club members colored with the children, participated in sing-a-long activities, distributed milk and cookies to the children, and entertained the children as they waited in line to visit with Santa and to receive a gift from him.

Prep alumnus, Ken Dondero, serves as the Rotary Chair for this event.  He was impressed with the enthusiasm that Prep club members displayed as they were embracing the activities planned for the day with kindness. He explained that this party would be one of the only Christmas celebrations for many of these children.  As we were leaving, Ken provided club members one final piece of advice – “Make the most of the wonderful opportunities in your life, and always give back!”

In attendance;

Seniors:  Chase Williams, Michael Toner, and RJ D’Amico

Juniors:  Collin Campbell, Steven Sontag, Harlon (Gerry) Dobson, Rocco Sangataldo
