Posted August 21st, 2012

The St. Augustine Prep community welcomes Mr. Shawn Dugan. Mr. Dugan will be teaching Honors Algebra I, Honors Pre-Calculus, Senior Theology and Political Science in this coming school year. He was born in Philadelphia and has lived in South Jersey since 1983.  After graduating from Bishop Eustace, he attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. He was accepted into the A.C.E. Program, which is a volunteer teaching program combined with a Master’s Degree component.  He taught in Edmond, Oklahoma, for two years, teaching middle school while earning his Master of Arts Degree in Teaching from the University of Portland.  After finishing graduate school, Mr. Dugan returned to South Jersey to continue his teaching career.

Mr. Dugan has spent the last thirteen years working at Sacred Heart High School in Vineland, New Jersey.  Since starting at Sacred Heart, he has taught all levels of History and Mathematics, including US History I and II, Algebra, Pre-Calculus and Calculus.  He has also taught Psychology, AP Psychology, Civics and several other electives.  He was the Student Government Moderator and History Department Chairperson for the last four years, along with being the Head Cross Country for 5 years and the Boys’ Tennis Coach this past year.  He will be the moderator for the Student Government at the Prep this year. Mr. Dugan’s message to our community is, “I believe it is important to immerse oneself in the school community in order to benefit fully from all that it has to offer.  I believe this holds true for students as well.  The more they invest and immerse themselves in the classroom and school community, the more they may benefit.  I am looking forward to being a part of this process and sharing my talents with all who are a part of the St. Augustine family.” St. Augustine Prep is happy to have Mr. Dugan and we welcome him to our community.
