New Guidance Counselor Announced

St. Augustine Prep is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Damian Long who will be joining the Department of College Guidance and Counseling beginning June 16.

Mr. Long (Class of 2006), is a graduate of Villanova University where he obtained both a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and a Master’s of Science in Counseling.  Damian comes to St. Augustine Prep with prior college admissions experience from his tenure at Villanova. Additionally, Mr. Long has been active in supporting those in need as a member of the ADROP (Augustinian Defenders of the Rights of the Poor) and as a Clinical Therapist Intern for both the Philadelphia FIGHT: Youth Health Empowerment Project and for the Saint Gabriel System’s, The Mitchell Program. Mr. Long also spent one year in Durban, South African volunteering and mentoring boys ages 3 to 18.

“Mr. Long is a perfect fit for our school as well as the guidance department.  His focus on serving others and his enthusiasm for providing guidance to our students make him a significant addition to our department,” says Mrs. Brooke Coyle, Director of College Guidance and Counseling.

Soon, the College Guidance Office will be sending e-mail notification to students advising them of their assigned counselor and providing next steps for the forthcoming 2014-2015 Academic Year.

Mr. Long played Hermits basketball and was committed to his work with many school activities.   “I look forward to joining the dedicated team who cultivates the growth of the Christian Gentleman and working to help plan the future for my Hermit brothers.”
