New SAT Program for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors – Books Available in School Store

Posted September 11th, 2012

A student’s SAT score is a big part of the college acceptance process. Prolonged exposure to SAT questions is the best preparation for the test. We want to prepare our students for the SAT test as best as we can; the Prep has introduced a curriculum advancement program to the math and English classes this year. St. Augustine Prep will be working with New England Prep (http://www.nepsat.com), a company that specializes in preparing students for the SAT, PSAT, and ACT. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (not seniors) will be working for 20 minutes a week on SAT questions, in their math and English classes, via video instruction from a renowned SAT expert, Ray Dass.

The expert instruction is accompanied by a workbook so the students can test their skills and prepare for the test. The cost of the math workbook is $40 and English workbook is $40. The purchase of these books allows access to a website with many test questions and video to further support the work in the classroom. This book is not sold through Follet since the books will be shipped directly to St. Augustine Prep. The books are now available in our School Store. All students, except seniors, must purchase these workbooks for the SAT curriculum. We are very excited about the success that our students will have from working with this curriculum advancement program. The SAT is an important test. We want to make sure that are students are ready to do well.

Within the next two weeks, students should be able to access the online training and we will begin video training in the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Dean of Academics, Mr. Kevin Burke ext. 159.
