NJAIS/MSA Visiting Team Concludes Week-Long Stay at St. Augustine Prep

Posted October 11th, 2013

On Friday, October 11, Dr. Peter Lewis, the Chair of the NJAIS/MSA Visiting Team, delivered his closing remarks to the St. Augustine Prep community. His words mark the end of a long journey for St. Augustine Prep, as the pursuit of dual accreditation from the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools hinged, ultimately, on this visit.

The process of pursuing this dual accreditation began over a year ago with the beginnings of a lengthy self-study. The self-study required each and every department within the school to reflect on its policies, procedures, and practices, and ultimately considered the Mission-consistency of those goals. With the completion of the site visit, the St. Augustine Prep community now eagerly awaits the results of accreditation application from NJAIS and re-accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

In his remarks at the exit interview, attended by the administration, faculty, and staff, Dr. Lewis thanked the entire school community for their hospitality, hard work, passion, and ardor.  “The mission of St. Augustine Prep is truly working,” he said, “and it is driving the school.”

The Prep will learn of its official accreditation status after the NJAIS Board of Trustees has met in January.  In the meantime, the work that the entire Prep community put into preparing the Self-Study has poised the school for continued improvement and growth.
