Note-taking in the Humanities: Part 2 of 3: Workshop Series for Freshmen and Sophomores
Posted January 6th, 2015
(Session Re-scheduled from Thursday January 15th to Wednesday January 14th)
On Wednesday January 14 (rather than Thursday January 15, as was originally scheduled), the Prep will offer the second in the series of a 3-part program of after-school workshops to assist freshmen and sophomores in developing and refining their note-taking skills. This workshop will be conducted from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Study Commons. This session will provide a quick review of the strategies presented in the preceding session, as the foundation upon which to learn and practice note-taking strategies when completing text-based reading assignments and when viewing a video or film. Students will practice using these strategies and their practice notes will be shared with their peers and reviewed by the instructor. All freshmen and sophomores are welcome to attend; however, certain students may be required to attend to facilitate their academic success.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mr. Blystone at Mr.Blystone@hermits.com , Mrs. Vogelsong, Assistant Dean of Academics at Mrs.Vogelsong@hermits.com, or Mr. Siciliano at Mr.Siciliano@hermits.com.
For future planning purposes, please note that the last of the three after-school Study Skills Workshop sessions will be presented by Mrs. McHugh on Tuesday January 20th and the last of the three Note-taking Skills sessions will be offered on Thursday, January 29th. Each of these remaining workshops will take place from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Study Commons on the respective dates, as noted.
