Posted February 26th, 2013

United States Marine Corps 1st Lt. Frank C. Broomell (Class of 2005) received a hero’s welcome on Sunday after returning from his second deployment to Afghanistan. 1st Lt. Broomell was in a local bowling alley supporting a fundraiser for Operation Yellow Ribbon. The group, which sends care packages to troops stationed abroad, learned of Broomell’s return and welcomed him like a hero at the event (see a video from the afternoon here).

Upon graduating from St. Augustine Prep in 2005, Broomell attended George Washington University and graduated with Cum Laude honors. He attended officer candidate school in the summer between his junior and senior years at GW, and was commissioned an officer after graduation.

After two deployments to Afghanistan, 1st Lt. Broomell has received two Strike/Flight Air Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, and a NATO-ISAF Medal. He was recently accepted to the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute.
