Prep Senior Receives Community Service Award
Posted March 27th, 2017
Service to the community is a significant aspect of a student’s experience at St. Augustine Prep. We urge our students to be change agents who seek to make an impact in their communities. Our young men require minimal encouragement as community service is an age-old tradition at the Prep – Senior Quinn Dolan continues that legacy as this year’s recipient of the Jim Hoopes and Karin Deveney Excellence in Youth Sports Award!
The Award, named after the late father of current Prep sophomore Jayson Hoopes, is presented by the Family Association of Northfield (F.A.N.) and was started in honor of two very influential, inspirational, and sorely missed members of the Northfield Sports Community. Jim Hoopes and Karin Deveney were dedicated volunteers who sacrificed much of their time to the sports programs in Northfield for the benefit of the youth community. Recognized each year by the association are one male and one female athlete (either in college currently or planning to attend college in the fall) who has not only exemplified excellence in Northfield youth and high school sports, but who has also embodied the ideals of leadership, sportsmanship, and integrity. The award presents a $1,000 grant payable to the educational program of Quinn’s choice. The National Honor Society Member and Senior Football Captain will also have his name added to the plaque which is proudly displayed near the gym at the Northfield Community School.
F.A.N. President, Mr. Michael Tierney mentioned, “Quinn is a great example of who we would like to honor in the presence of our young, impressionable 8th graders.”
Congratulations to Quinn and the entire Dolan family – we are proud of Quinn’s accomplishments and thank him for setting the standard for all Hermits who are to follow in his footsteps!
