Prep Student-Athlete Competes in All-American Baseball Game

Posted August 14th, 2012

Chris Oakley (Class of 2013) pitched in front of 7,638 fans in the San Diego Padres’ stadium over the weekend as part of the Perfect Game All-American Classic presented by Rawlings.

The Perfect Game featured some of the most talented rising-senior baseball players in the country in an East versus West matchup. Eighteen pitchers participated in the game (with each pitching one inning for his respective team), but Oakley was one of only three players to show top speed of 94 mph on his fastball. In his outing, he pitched a perfect 1,2,3 inning serving up consecutive fly-outs before striking out the third batter he faced.

Oakley will have another opportunity to play in a Major League Baseball stadium this upcoming weekend when he participates in another showcase game at Yankee Stadium in New York.
