Prep Student Creates Our Lady Star of the Sea Website

Posted August 28th, 2015

When Mr. Dugan was asked by the principal of Our Lady Star of the Sea Regional High School for help with a new website, he asked students at the Prep if anyone would be interested in helping out. 17-year-old Mark Keller volunteered and began the project in October of last year. Just one over one month and 104 hours later, Mr. Dugan followed up with Mark to find out that the website was nearing completion. Mr. Dugan said he was amazed, “He stepped up and quickly fixed something that helps hundreds of young children and their families immediately. Being able to connect better and stay in contact with families and bring Our Lady Star of the Sea into the 21st-century learning community is special. He did it without hesitation and lived up to what Caritas truly represents.”

Instead of using a template or a common program like WordPress, Mark coded the entire website on his own, learning news things all along the way.

Mark’s interest in website began his sophomore year here at the Prep when he attended a computer programming class. And that interest will continue on to college as Mark has said he’d like to continue studying computer science.
