Prep Student to Study Arabic in Morocco as Part of Summer Program

Posted April 24th, 2012

On March 29, Jacob Snyder (Class of 2013) was awarded a scholarship to study Arabic in Morocco as part of a six-week program sponsored by the Department of State and the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y). The scholarship selection process for this program is highly competitive, and Jacob could not be more excited about his opportunity.

“I think it is a great opportunity for myself as well as for St. Augustine Prep,” said Jacob, “The NSLI-Y offers a multitude of language-learning and language-emersion programs that could benefit the school in the future.”

Jacob has been taking Arabic with Mr. Adam Shepherd for seven months now, and plans to major in Arabic in college. The NSLI-Y Morocco program is one of two summer programs that he was accepted to for this upcoming summer. Jacob was also accepted to the Naval Academy Summer Seminar at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Because of conflicts with his summer schedule, he had to choose between the programs, and has selected the NSLI-Y program in Morocco.

Congratulations on these outstanding achievements, Jacob!
