Prep Students Participate in Summer in the City Program

Zach LaBarth (Class of 2014) and Brendan Honick (Class of 2016) volunteered for the 2013 Summer in the City Program. Sponsored by the Diocese of Camden, the Summer in the City program is a weeklong project which focused on service, social justice, spirituality, and community. A total of 34 high school and college students gathered in Ventnor and Atlantic City from August 11 through August 17 for the event. Their work sites included Catholic Charities, a local nursing home, a soup kitchen, and local parishes.

According to Greg Coogan, Camden Diocese Youth Ministry Director, “The combination of service at multiple work sites and reflection sessions gave our young people the chance to use their talents and abilities to help their neighbor, and increase their awareness and understanding of the importance of the rights and dignity of the human person.”
