Record-setting Prep swimmer Shane Washart ’21 bound for Harvard, Olympic Trials
Humble and driven, Shane Washart, a Prep senior and Olympic hopeful has raced his way to the opportunity to compete at Blodgett Pool representing Harvard University. However, before the Wenonah, NJ native gets to call Cambridge, Massachusetts home, he recently added to his legacy at the Prep by becoming the new Hermits Swimming record-holder in the 500m free with a time of 4:32.30. Shane’s love for the pool began at the age of 3 and soon thereafter, he became enamored with the mental strength required to succeed in such a demanding sport. The need to push oneself to new heights and the daily challenges posed to every competitive swimmer only strengthened the bond between the future Ivy Leaguer and the pool. The discipline and perseverance he has developed through the years have been the keys to his success; but, most importantly, it has also helped him apply the same determination in school and in life.
