Quinn Communications Partnership Takes Livestreaming Video to New Level

Posted January 10th, 2014

Two years ago, St. Augustine Prep purchased specific technologies to enable the live-streaming of on-campus events online. Since that time, athletic events, graduation, the Brotherhood Ceremony, and several other events have been streamed online to St. Augustine Prep community-members the world over. In late 2013, the live-streaming of campus events took a significant step forward through a partnership with Quinn Communications & Marketing, LLC.

Ken Pustizzi, a Mendel Award-Winner and long-time friend of St. Augustine Prep, founded Quinn Communications & Marketing last year as part of an agreement to purchase radio station WSNJ 1240 AM and to manage Cable Channel 2 which services Comcast subscribers in Cumberland and surrounding counties. Mr. Pustizzi’s sons Kenny (Class of 2004) and Kevin (Class of 2007) both attended the Prep. Kevin currently serves as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the stations. In November, Mr. Pustizzi approached the Athletic Department and suggested a partnership for promoting the impressive achievements of scholar-athletes at St. Augustine Prep. The first phase of the project proposal involved live-streaming Hermits Basketball games. Unlike previously live-streamed events, which included game-footage and little else, the new live-streaming promised to have more of the “bells and whistles.” On Friday, December 27, snjtoday.com/hermits and Cable Channel 2 carried a live, online version of a Hermits Basketball game which featured multiple camera angles, live commentary, as well as on-screen time and score-keeping (you can watch this and all of the Hermits Basketball games, including tomorrow’s game against Montrose Christian School, here – take a few minutes to complete the provided survey at that location as well).

“We’re very excited to offer live high-definition broadcasts of local sport events.  Presenting live coverage of St. Augustine’s home games, which can be viewed world-wide, makes this advancement a double win for our staff and family,” said Ken Pustizzi.

In addition to promoting many different academic, athletic, and service-oriented events at St. Augustine Prep, the leadership at Quinn Communications & Marketing has also expressed an interest in providing access to their technological assets to the students of St. Augustine Prep in the form of intern/externships. This is an exciting time for the Prep, as both our internal and external constituents are working together to leverage emerging technologies with the goal of providing a platform to promote and celebrate the talents of our gifted scholar-athletes.
