Recognizing a Valuable Hermits Rugby Team Member
Posted June 18th, 2015
Sometimes the most important members of a sports team never take the field for a play. But it’s what they do on the sidelines that make all of the difference. Rugby Team Manager Edison Mackley is one of those members. As the team manager, and the one responsible for filming all games, both home and away, he has become a vital part of the Hermits Rugby team. According to Coach Brendan Towell, “His contributions have been invaluable since we break down game film every Tuesday.”
Edison started with the Rugby program just this year, as he is friends with several of the players, and wanted to participate but did not envision himself on the field. So, with a dedication and determination that has made the team and staff proud, and without any previous Rugby experience, he came to practices to learn the game, and even started watching international matches at home. He learned the flow of the game and began to understand what needed to be filmed and focused on during the games. In addition to filming, he assists Coach Towell with organizing equipment and setting up the field on game days.
There’s no stopping Edison, who will also be maintaining the team’s social media accounts this Fall.
Edison, from Coach Towell and the entire Hermits Rugby team, you embody Hermit Pride! Thank you for being such a valuable asset to the team and coaching staff.
