Rising Senior Earns Swarthmore College Internship

Posted June 7th, 2018

The Class of 2019 is making sure there is no lapse in school leadership following the graduation of their predecessors.

Leading by example – rising senior, Adebayo Adelekan, has been selected to represent St. Augustine Prep as part of the Swarthmore Black Alumni Network’s Summer Internship Program!

The Swarthmore College Internship will provide Adebayo the opportunity to be mentored by Professor Keith Reeves and his talented research staff and assistants.  Professor Reeves serves as Swarthmore’s Political Science Department Chair and has also been featured on CNN providing insight on many of the topics Adebayo will be learning about this summer.  The internship will be focused on criminal law, criminal justice policy, and social justice which, in-turn, will take Adebayo to court sessions with undergrad interns and meetings with prominent Swarthmore alumni, attorneys, judges, and prosecutors.  In addition, he will have the opportunity to interact with the college’s Admissions Office and take an in-depth tour of Swarthmore’s sprawling 425-acre campus located 11-miles southwest of Philadelphia.

As stated by Mr. Scott Lisgar, Esq. (P ’19, ’22), who helped facilitate the partnership with Professor Reeves and Swarthmore College, “Adebayo is an outstanding academic and a leader in his community.  He will undoubtedly be a very positive influence on all he touches through this experience.”

The school community congratulates Adebayo and we thank Mr. Lisgar, Professor Reeves, and Swarthmore College for paving the way for Adebayo and future Hermit Brothers!
