Coach Rizzo & Coach Rodio Named 2016 NJSIAA Award Recipients

St. Augustine Preparatory Athletic Director Michael Rizzo and Head Basketball Coach Paul Rodio were honored this past Monday, Dec. 5th by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).  Coach Rizzo was honored with the 2016 Service Award while Coach Rodio was named the Basketball Award recipient.

Coach Rizzo has helped facilitate, host and served as site manager for multiple NJSIAA public state boys & girls soccer semi-finals.  In addition, he has spent 20 years coaching football, basketball and baseball and is in his third year at the helm of the Athletic Department. Mr. Rizzo has the honor of adding the 2016 NJSIAA Award to his many recognitions including his induction in the St. Augustine Prep Hall of Fame in 2006.

Coach Rodio has amassed 861 career wins and enters his 40th year of coaching.  He has accumulated 5 state championships in basketball and 4 in cross country during his time at the Prep.  He holds 15 South Jersey Championships and is a member of the NJSCA, South Jersey Coaches, Bridgeton, and St. Augustine Prep Halls of Fame.

Mr. Bill Edelman of Vernon Township was named the 2016 Award of Honor Recipient while All Leiter, John Millar, Dr. David Sime, Ron “Itchy” Smith, Edward Stinson, and Milt Wagner were inducted into the NJSIAA Hall of Fame.
