Rock Band Club Plays LaRosa Fest

Posted March 5th, 2015

The drum kit was arranged, the guitars and bass were tuned, and mics were in place for the keyboardist and sax player. The stage was ready for a successful gig and the Rock Band Club delivered. The band played a set during LaRosa Fest on Friday, February 20th to an excited crowd.

The club is for those Prep students who have a passion for playing and want to expand their musical knowledge, while improving their musical abilities by rehearsing and jamming with other students both on campus and in outside venues.

Rock Club was organized several years ago by Prep students looking for an opportunity to perform rock much together in weekly rehearsals and the occasional public concert. Since then, many Prep students have participated in the club, which is open to any Prep student with an interest in rock music.

Members are encouraged to share instruments and try different performance roles. A member might, for example, perform on drums for one song, sing lead vocals on the next, and then pick up the bass for another.

Founding member Marc Reeder says, “the original idea for Rock Club is based on the Paul Greene School of Rock. I have taken the ideas of Paul Greene and molded them to fit the values of Saint Augustine Preparatory School.”
