Senior Lane Dilg Receives Eagle Scout Honor

After many years of service and dedication, Prep senior Lane Dilg achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Lane represents Troop 99 of the Jersey Shore Council where he serves proudly.

An Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a member of the Boy Scouts can obtain.

Lane says that he “enjoyed being part of the journey to receive my Eagle Scout rank.  Happy to be a part of Boy Scouts and all they had to offer.”

To gain the Eagle Scout Rank, according to the Boy Scouts website, a Scout must:

  • Progress through the ranks in the following order:
    • Tenderfoot
    • Second Class
    • First Class
    • Star
    • Life
    • Eagle
  • Earn 21 merit badges, including:
    • First Aid
    • Citizenship in the Community
    • Citizenship in the Nation
    • Citizenship in the World
    • Communications
    • Environmental Science
    • Personal Fitness
    • Camping
    • Family Life
    • Personal Management
    • Emergency Preparedness or Lifesaving
    • Cycling, Hiking, or Swimming
  • Serve six months in a troop leadership position.
  • Plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for any religious organization or any school or community.
  • Take part in a Scoutmaster conference.
  • Successfully complete an Eagle Scout board of review.
