Sophomore Matthew Balestriere Makes All-State Choir
Posted May 8th, 2015
With students from across the state of New Jersey hoping to gain a spot in the All-State Choir, Prep sophomore Matthew Balestriere was selected for one of the 200 coveted positions. The auditions, held on Saturdays, April 18th and April 25th at Northern Burlington Regional High School and Bloomfield High School respectively, boasted over 1,000 students in attendance.
Each student was required to go through rigorous additions in two different audition rooms where the judges listened to them sing a solo, then sing again with a recorded quintet. They also had to perform two diatonic scales, a chromatic scale, and then were finally tested on their tonal memory.
Matthew was accepted into the top mixed choir, placing 20th in the entire state for Tenor II. He will participate in rehearsals throughout the summer and into the fall as the choir prepares for several concerts in both Atlantic City and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.
Congratulations, Matthew!
