Student Government Spotlight – Michael Gillen ’16
Posted November 3rd, 2015
Michael Gillen is a member of the Student Government Executive Committee. As he approaches his last year at the Prep, Mike reflects on his time here, how he feels he has grown and his hopes for the future.
“When I think about my life, I always come to the conclusion that my decision to attend St. Augustine Prep was the best decision I have ever made. As a Hermit, I have become someone I am proud of. I have made relationships that will last my lifetime. More importantly, my relationships, with the faculty of the Prep, have matured me. I am more in touch with my Catholic faith. I know what I want out of life and how to enjoy life. I am truly happy with the person I have become and I have the faculty and administration to thank for this transformation. As Fr. Reilly likes to say, I truly believe I can be ‘a change agent in society.’ The past four years have been unforgettable and the memories I have made will forever be in my mind. Thank you all for making these years of my life fun, joyful, but most of all, productive. This last year at the Prep has and will be bittersweet, but I know in my heart, I will always be a Hermit. The ‘Proud and Peaceful Glen’ is like a second home to me, and I plan to have an amazing senior year. Go Hermits!” Michael Gillen, Class of 2016
