Students Participate in Record Breaker at Cathedral Kitchen

Posted February 3rd, 2012

In the late 1970s, Bishop James L. Schad founded the Cathedral Kitchen in the basement of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Camden.  In those days a busy night would serve about 175 people.  Today, St. Augustine Prep has been helping at the Cathedral Kitchen longer than any other group of volunteers – 22 years.  Under the direction of Brother David Graber, M.SS.CC., the Prep’s juniors have been volunteering 3 or 4 nights per month.  During the course of his third year, every junior serves at least once at Cathedral Kitchen.

On Monday night, January 30, the Cathedral Kitchen served an all-time record 546 guests and ten of our juniors had the honor of serving these most needy persons.
