Posted December 7th, 2012

Members of Ms. Elayne Sama’s junior English class have written original poetry thanking American soldiers for their service and wishing them a safe return to the US. The students enclosed a Christmas card and a gift to 90 servicemen abroad.

Junior Hayward Smith led this project among his classmates. Andrew Parra’s father included a carton a Tastycakes as a special token of respect from a veteran.

The students decorated the “Poet-tree” in room 43 with the cards. Among others, these packages will be mailed to St. Augustine Prep graduates presently in the military, including the son of Mrs. Anna Broomel, Frank, who is currently serving in Afghanistan.
