Students Visit Wall Street
Posted November 7th, 2015
On Monday October 26, Juniors Tom DiMona and Frank Casano took advantage of the day off and traveled to New York City to take the “Wall Street Experience” tour. Since these two students are establishing a Finance Club, they wanted to visit the Financial District, meet an expert and bring that information back to club members.
They learned about the events of the financial crisis and how some traders made billion dollar profits while some banks collapsed, about Collateralized Debt Obligations and Credit Default Swaps and how they destroyed financial institutions around the world. They also found out what really brought down Bear Stearns, Lehman and AIG and heard first hand accounts of their final days from an insider.
Tom and Frank (pictured here in front of the New York Stock Exchange building) also saw world famous landmarks while meandering the narrow, winding streets of Lower Manhattan. What a great way to spend a day off! Any student interested in learning more about the Finance Club, please email Tom at dimona.thomas@hermits.org.
