The Environmental Club Celebrates Earth Day

Posted April 23rd, 2013

The Environmental Club celebrated Earth Day (Monday, April 22) in a number of different ways. Proceeds from the Environmental Club’s annual Dodgeball Tournament have been used to sponsor a large forest (50 new trees were planted) as part of the National Wildlife Federation’s Tree Sponsorship Program ($150.00), and to finance the Arts in Earth Day Competition Prizes – $50 per category – 5 categories ($250.00). Winners will be announced at Mass on April 24 and published in The Daily Journal.

Other projects sponsored by the club include:

  • The Three R’s of Environmental Friendliness (Recycling) Project (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
  • Recylcing Project: Cell phones for Project Hopeline, which serves victims of domestic violence. – The collection drive ran during the entire school year and the items donated were delivered to Verizon on April 19, 2013.
  • Recycling of ink cartridges and small electronics via Funding Factory. Professional bins were obtained and placed in the cafeteria and Room 54; the collection drive ran for the entire school year and resulted in $108.48 earned.

The Environmental Club thanks all for your support!
